Our Review: Discover is a great company. All of their credit card products are top-rate, and they have some amazing customer service, too. The website they set up is very professional, and makes applying for a card really simple. Plus, they’re a nationally known company, so you know that you can trust them.
User Review: Discover student credit card offers were ones that I didn’t think I qualified for. However, I took the time to fill out an application, and was pleasantly surprised when I was approved. The card has a great rate, and even a rewards program that offers me cash back when I use the card. I love it!

Today, their assets top $1 billion, and they are a leader in the internet banking industry, offering various loans, credit cards, and banking services to consumers nationwide.
Our Review: Bank of Internet has always been a favorite of ours. They have so much to offer, and you really can’t beat the fees and interest rates they have, which are super low. The website is really easy to use, and the customer service is top-rate, which you would expect from a company like this. All in all, definitely worth checking out for a student credit card.
User Review: Bank of Internet offered me a student credit card that had a much lower interest rate than anything else I had applied for. I was a little confused by some of the stuff on their website, but once I figured it out, I was good. I love the service I got, and the card itself is great, too.

AccountNow
P.O. Box 1966
San Ramon, CA 94583
866-925-2036
www.accountnow.net
Services Offered: Student credit card
Company Overview: AccountNow was founded in 2004. They use a service where consumers can build credit just by paying their bills on time, and reporting that to credit agencies. The company serves over 40 million consumers that aren’t eligible for credit cards or bank accounts, and their services are all FDIC-insured, so that your prepayment money is safe at all times.
Our Review: AccountNow offers a great service. Not everyone needs an unsecured credit card, and they serve the needs of those who want a prepaid card for various reasons. It doesn’t matter if they are trying to control spending or giving the card to a teen, because they serve a lot of uses. The website is pretty simple to get around, and the application forms are easy, too.
User Review: AccountNow is a prepaid company, and I wasn’t sure that was what I wanted. However, as a college student, money is tight, so only being able to spend what I could afford was very helpful. Now I’m out of college, and I don’t have huge credit card bills like most of my friends, which I’m thankful for.

Our Review: Credit Axis has great products. Especially when it comes to students who have no credit or a lot of student loans on their tab, finding a credit card can be tricky. This company offers something for everyone with a simple website, easy application forms, and excellent customer service.
User Review: Credit Axis didn’t care that I had defaulted on my car loan or that I had no other substantial credit beyond that. They were still able to get me a credit card so that I could establish good credit and get back on track while I was finishing school.

Interest Rate Secrets and Tricks:

Whenever you’re looking for a loan or a credit card with a low interest rate, you should take the time to make sure that you’re actually getting a low interest rate for a period of time and not just for a short time. For example, a card might come with 0% APR to start with, but after 3-6 months, you’ll need to know what the APR will increase to. For example, if after 6 months, it goes up to 18%, then the card that offers a flat interest rate of 12% from the time of acceptance is actually a better card to have. It all depends on what you need, though. By taking the time to check out these different options, you’ll be much more informed about interest rates. Keep in mind, also, that a credit card or loan company can raise your interest rate at any time, based on the creditworthiness that you have and any changes that take place. For example, if you suddenly default on your payments, you might notice that your interest went from 12% up to 29%, which is usually the default rate on most cards. In this case, you need to stop spending and start paying so that you can get the card paid off in a timely fashion, improve your credit, and then ask for an interest rate deduction from the credit card company. A credit card company doesn’t have to tell you that they’re increasing or lowering your rates, either. That’s why you need to check your statements very carefully for special notes and information. If you have good credit and become a loyal customer, you’ll be rewarded with interest rate reductions and higher credit limits. If, however, your credit gets worse during the time that you have a card or loan, you’ll likely have credit limits reduced and interest rates increased. To keep tabs on this, you need to read all of your credit card statements carefully so that you know what is going on. Keep these things in mind when it comes to interest rate issues, and you’ll be better prepared to get the most from your credit and lending needs.
